Kaye Don's Story
Life
Attended John Ross Robertson thru 1945 then on to St. Mikes. Registered in Lawrence Park and North Toronto High to catch some JRR types who moved on to those schools.
Left TO in 1950 when family moved to California. Attended high school in Oakland Calfornia then moved to LA. Worked as estimator and salesman for regional glass company until 1953 while waiting for draft board to make up its mind on my future. Did not take option of running back to Canada to avoid military service.
Moved to Las Vegas 1953 until drafted into US Army. While in Las Vegas pursued a brief career in hotel mismanagement and many very late nights in pursuit of some very charming showgirls from various casinos.
Draft board rescued me in April 1954 and was discharged in 1956 without a scratch and a whole lot smarter about priorities and opportunities. As a result, ran back to academia and although employed full time in labor relations for a large utility, managed to complete
required college credits for entry into Law School and...Expand for more
graduated with JD in hand.
Spent next 135 years (35 actually) providing counsel to small and major corporations in the field of labor relations and the quagmire of employment law. During this period raised two sons from first marriage - - Remarried some 30 plus years ago to the find of a lifetime.
Retired in 2005 and have the resources to enjoy two homes - One near San Francisco and the second in the Sierra mountains north of Lake Tahoe. Have travelled throughout the world and developed a great liking for France, Italy and Greece where our donations are frequent. Paris of course is numero uno.
Play golf for pleasure and pain - Work hard at staying in some sort of shape and spend considerable energy having fun in any number of ways.
My California born wife has become enamored with The Muskokas and so we find ourselves up there about every other year.
Bottom Line? One lucky guy who has had a very good ride to date. My JRR and other teachers would be stunned to know that such has happened. Me too.
